The Delhi unit of the BJP, on Sunday, held the Arvind Kejriwal-led government responsible for the health crisis in Delhi, claiming that the government's ministers and AAP MLAs are hoarding medicines and oxygen.

Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta said at a time when the people of Delhi are gasping for breath and the saffron party, the RSS and other organisations are helping people, Delhi government ministers and AAP MLAs are involved in black-marketing and hoarding of oxygen and medicines. "Delhi government AAP are responsible for this crisis," news agency ANI quoted him as saying.

He claimed that the Union government had, on March 6, warned the Delhi government about arrangements of procurement of oxygen but the AAP government did not do anything. "But when they got pressure from hospitals, they (Delhi govt) on April 18 started looking for vendors for cryogenic oxygen tanker," Gupta added.

However, while announcing the extension of lockdown in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said there has been an improvement in the oxygen situation. " We used the lockdown period to boost our medical infrastructure and to increase oxygen beds at various locations. The oxygen situation has improved in Delhi. We're not getting panic or SOS calls from hospitals now," he said.

Meanwhile, Delhi recorded 273 more coronavirus deaths on Sunday, the lowest since April 21, and 13,336 new infections with a positivity rate of 21.67 per cent. The number of new cases, the lowest since April 12, can be attributed to a smaller number of tests —61,552—conducted on Saturday.
