Karnataka CM in hospital, government in ICU, says Siddaramaiah

He demanded a white paper on state govt's preparedness to tackle second wave

siddaramiah-sourced Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah

Karnataka chief minister is in the hospital and the state government is in ICU, mocked leader of the opposition Siddaramaiah, who demanded a white paper on the state government's preparedness to tackle the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, in Bengaluru on Monday.

"COVID-19 patients have no hospital beds in government hospitals and they cannot afford private hospitals. There is acute shortage of lifesaving drugs like Remdesivir and oxygen," said Siddaramaiah.

"Last year, when COVID-19 struck us for the first time, it was an unexpected assault. But instead of preparing itself to tackle the pandemic, the BJP government used coronavirus as an excuse to indulge in corruption and today it has surrendered to the virus," alleged the former chief minister.

"The second wave is turning fatal and the state government is helpless and stands exposed before the people today," added Siddaramaiah.

Karnataka reported 15,785 new cases and 146 deaths on Monday, taking the total number of active cases to 1,42,084 and total deaths to 13,497.
