RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat tests COVID-19 positive, in hospital

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has tested coronavirus positive and has been admitted to a private hospital in Nagpur, sources said on Saturday.

Bhagwat was admitted to the COVID-19 ward on Friday, hospital sources said. He is stable and under observation, they added.

An RSS functionary also confirmed that Bhagwat has tested positive for the viral infection.

A number of prominent leaders expressed wishes to Bhagwat. Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa tweeted, "My prayers for the good health and well-being of Sarsanghchalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat ji. I wish him a speedy and complete recovery."

Congress MP Manickam Tagore also tweeted, "My prayers for your speedy recovery Sh. #MohanBhagwat."

Bhagwat had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Nagpur's National Cancer Institute on March 6. He had not been administered the second dose of vaccine yet.
