A day after Delhi reported a record 5,100 fresh cases of COVID-19, the Aam Aadmi Party staged a protest on Wednesday, demanding that supply of vaccines across the country should be increased. However, the protesters were seen without masks and flouting social distancing rules.

When asked how a protest can be staged even as the national capital is witnessing an alarming rise in the number of cases, AAP's Saurabh Bhardwaj told NDTV that if a few AAP workers contracting the disease would lead to crores of people getting the vaccines, they are ready for it."As far as the AAP workers are concerned, even if some of AAP activists get Covid to bring the vaccine to crores of people, we are ready for it," NDTV quoted him as saying.

He also cited how Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been holding huge election rallies in poll-bound states and added that people of this country follows what the prime minister does. "If he follows all the rules, all the others will follow him,"

The party wants the Centre to reduce vaccine export and instead use the doses for India's citizens.

Pointing out that the government exported more vaccine doses than what has been administered to people in the country, AAP leader Raghav Chadha said the Union government is more concerned about its image than saving the lives of Indians.

In the wake of the spike in the number of cases, Delhi government has imposed night curfew in the national capital from 10pm to 5am till April 30.
