Former diplomat and Congress legislator from Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor, has threatened legal action against a spoken English mobile application for using his name and image without permission for commercial purposes. The app, Blackboard Radio-Learn English by Speaking, advertised on the promise of teaching kids "to speak English as fluently as Shashi Tharoor."
This has been drawn to my attention by many unwitting students who were misled by this app. I wish to make it clear that I have NO connection to this app &have NOT endorsed it in any way. I will take legal action to stop the misuse of my name & image for commercial purposes. pic.twitter.com/C2dZhP47dd

Sharing an image of the advert, the Congress MP tweeted: “This has been drawn to my attention by many unwitting students who were misled by this app. I wish to make it clear that I have NO connection to this app & have NOT endorsed it in any way. I will take legal action to stop the misuse of my name & image for commercial purposes.”
It is to be noted that MPs are legally not allowed to endorse any private companies.

Tharoor's elegant use of vocabulary has often made it to headlines. From his usage of "exasperating farrago of distortions" in response to a TV journalist peddling "lies" to coining the term "webaqoof" to refer to "the one who believes every claim or allegation on the internet & social media must be true", Tharoor's choice of words has often topped Google search lists, too.
