In the wake of protests by a group of students of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) against a proposal to make Reliance Industries executive director Nita Ambani a visiting professor at BHU, the university and Reliance Industries Limited clarified that there isn't such a proposal.

According to media reports, the university, in a press release, clarified that a proposal to make Nita Ambani a visiting faculty was not discussed by the administration.

Reliance Industries Limited too had noted that the reports about Nita Ambani being invited to be a visiting faculty at the university are fake. "Reports that Nita Ambani will be a visiting lecturer at Banaras Hindu University are fake. She hasn't received an invitation," ANI had quoted Reliance Industries Limited spokesperson as saying.

Earlier, there were reports that said university sources had claimed that there is a proposal to make influential women leaders like Nita Ambani interact with the students.

Shubham Tiwari, one of the protesting students, had said instead of Nita Ambani, those who have set an example of women empowerment should be invited.
