If BJP comes to power in Kerala, petrol would be available for about Rs 60: Kummanam Rajasekharan

Kerala BJP leader Kummanam Rajasekharan claimed that if his party would come to power in the state in the upcoming assembly elections, petrol could be sold for about Rs 60.

According to media reports, Rajasekharan said this could be done if petrol is included under GST and sought to know why the LDF government in the state did not demand that petroleum products be included under GST regime.

The prices of petrol keeps fluctuating in keeping with the trends in the international market, he pointed out and added that the saffron party has a clear stand over the issue. 

Saying that petrol should be brought under GST, he sought to know why the Congress and the Left party hasn't clarified their stand over the issue. The BJP leader was denoting to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's suggestion that Centre and state governments will have to together to work out a mechanism to bring retail rates of fuel to reasonable levels. She had suggested the answer may lie in bringing petrol and diesel under the GST regime.

Rajasekharan sought to know why Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Issac thinks it is not practical to bring petroleum products under GST.

Further, he assured that if BJP comes to power in Kerala, petrol will be made available at Rs 60 by bringing it under GST.
