Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) will contest the assembly polls in Tamil Nadu.

According to media reports, Owaisi, on Monday, announced that his party will contest the elections to the 234-member Tamil Nadu assembly.

The single phase of Tamil Nadu elections is set to take place on April 6.

"We will contest assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. Some of our candidates won in Gujarat local body polls. I will be going to Rajasthan today to review and speak with party members. Our party workers are also working hard in Uttar Pradesh," ANI quoted the AIMIM chief as saying.

Speaking about Indian Secular Front's (ISF) Abbas Siddiqui sharing the dais with the Left and the Congress at a rally in Kolkata on Sunday, the AIMIM chief said he will talk about his party's strategy for poll-bound West Bengal when the time is right.

Counting of votes in Tamil Nadu will be held on May 2.

Meanwhile, according to ANI, speaking about the Prime Minister Narendra Modi getting the COVID-19 vaccine jab, Owaisi said, "As per Germany govt, #Covishield isn't as effective for people aged 64 & above as it's for people aged b/w 18-64. Can govt clarify the confusion? It's a coincidence that PM took Bharat Biotech's COVAXIN vaccine today. However, I urge all to get vaccinated."
