Farmers are all set to intensify the ongoing protests as they plan to block Delhi-Jaipur highway on Saturday. Braving the harsh winter, the farmers plan to block all toll plazas in the country as well as the Delhi-Jaipur highway as the protests entered Day 17 on Saturday.

Farmers closed Bastara toll plaza in Karnal late last night, while Shambhu Toll Plaza in Ambala has been made toll-free as farmers closed the toll Saturday morning.

Security has been beefed up at the toll plazas. Two thousand policemen are on duty in Gurgaon and 3,500 policemen are on duty in Faridabad to stop the protesters, officials have said. The two cities in Haryana share borders with Delhi.

Meanwhile, over 1,000 farmers from Rajasthan are heading to Delhi on tractors and trucks, while hundreds from Nuh will join them at Shahjahanpur border. "Thousands of farmers will meet in Kothputli and then decide the further course of action. The government should work to raise the MSP and also listen to farmers," said Hanuman Beniwal, RLP leader and MP from Nagaur, during a demonstration march towards Delhi.

With no consensus in their talks with the Centre, the farmers are unfazed and have no intention to slow down the protests. "On December 14, we'll stage a sit-in protest in front of DC offices, houses of BJP leaders and block Reliance/Adani toll plazas. No programme to stop trains. Number of farmers coming here is increasing," Bharatiya Kisan Union chief Balbir S. Rajewal was quoted by various media reports.
