PDP chief and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti alleged on Friday morning that she had been detained again. Mehbooba had been released from detention in October, more than an year after she and other politicians in Jammu and Kashmir had been taken into custody following the abrogation of Article 370.

Mehbooba tweeted on Friday morning, "Ive been illegally detained yet again. Since two days, J&K admin has refused to allow me to visit @parawahid's family in Pulwama. BJP Ministers & their puppets are allowed to move around in every corner of Kashmir but security is a problem only in my case." Mehbooba was referring to Waheed Para, a PDP youth wing leader, who had been arrested on Thursday for alleged links to terrorists.

Mehbooba alleged even her daughter, Iltija, had been placed under house arrest. She tweeted, "Their cruelty knows no bounds. Waheed was arrested on baseless charges & I am not allowed to even console his family. Even my daughter Iltija has been placed under house arrest because she also wanted to visit Waheed’s family."

Iltija had handled Mehbooba's Twitter account during the months she had been detained.

Mehbooba announced she would hold a press conference at 3pm on Friday.
