A joint meeting of the NDA legislature party in Bihar will be held on Sunday where Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be elected as its leader.

This was decided at a meeting of the leaders of the four NDA constituents in Bihar—the JD(U), BJP, HAM and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP)—at the residence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday.

“The meeting will start at 12:30pm on November 15," chief minister elect Nitish Kumar told reporters. Nitish was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying, “All decisions will be taken in that meeting. After the meeting and election of the NDA leader, we will stake claim to form the government.”

Nitish also said there would be the last cabinet meeting of the current government on Friday evening.

Despite the BJP emerging as the largest party in the ruling alliance with 74 seats, 31 more than the JD(U), the top leadership of the saffron party, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has emphatically endorsed Nitish Kumar as the next chief minister.

He was declared the ruling coalition's chief ministerial candidate much before the election process had started.

The BJP is expected to hold a meeting of its legislature party in Bihar on November 16 (Monday).
