MDMA tablets worth Rs 4 lakh from Netherlands seized by Customs

These MDMA tablets were recovered and seized under the NDPS Act, 1985

Chennai Air Customs, following a tip-off, detained two postal parcels suspected to contain narcotics substance, which arrived from the Netherlands at Foreign Post Office.

On examination, the first parcel was found to contain a plastic pouch with grey colour tablets suspected to be MDMA, a narcotics substance. Sixty tablets were recovered. These tablets, known as “Reaper”, were embossed with skull mark and contained 350mg of MDMA, which is a high dose.

The second parcel was found to contain a plastic pouch containing green tablets, also suspected to be MDMA. Forty such tablets were recovered. These tablets known as “Red Bull” were embossed with bull mark and contained around 225mg of MDMA.

These MDMA tablets, valued at Rs 4 lakh, were recovered and seized under the NDPS Act, 1985.

Both the parcels arrived from the Netherlands and were addressed to two individuals in Chennai city. Their address and name were found to be fake upon inquiry.

Further investigation is in progress.
