Raninder Singh, son of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with alleged violation of Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

According to media reports, he has been asked to appear before the agency on Tuesday (October 27).

He was told to appear before the ED in 2016 as well, and was asked to explain alleged shifting of funds to Switzerland and setting up of a trust in British Virgin Islands.

Singh had earlier said he has nothing to hide and expressed willingness to cooperate with the investigation.

“We will examine the summons and accordingly put up our case,” Singh's lawyer has been quoted as saying.

According to The Tribune, reacting to the development, Congress leaders said the summons may have come because of the tough stand the chief minister took against the Centre over the farm laws. Meanwhile, Amarinder Singh and his son denied charges, dubbing them as “false.”
