Gujarat: Police protection at Tanishq store after threats

Police protection has been provided to Tanishq showroom in Gandhidham of border district of Kutch in Gujarat after threats over company’s recent advertisement that became controversial.

Kutch SP Mayur Patil said on Wednesday that protection was provided to the showroom on Tuesday after they received threats. According to Patil, the showroom had been receiving threats from Kutch and other parts of Gujarat.

Two days ago, following a demand from local persons, the company showroom had put up a handwritten apology in Gujarati.

A police van has been stationed outside the showroom.

There have been reports in certain section of media that the showroom was attacked. Patil, however, denied the rumours that the store was attacked. He also requested people not to pay heed to rumours.

Meanwhile, minister of state for home Pradeepsinh Jadeja took to Twitter on Wednesday evening and said that the news of the attack on a showroom in Gandhidham is totally fake. He named the telivision channel that showed the news. 

Jageja said that this is a motivated attempt to adversely impact the law and order and incite violence in Gujarat. He said that he has asked to register a case and take strict action against those who spread the fake news.
