India on Saturday summoned Pakistan Charge d'Affaires over the death of three civilians in a ceasefire violation by Pakistani forces in Krishna Ghati in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Ministry of External Affairs in a statement said India strongly condemned the Pakistani action that took place on Friday night.
Mohammad Rafiq (58), his wife Rafia Bi (50) and their son Irfan (16) were killed when a mortar shell hit their house at Karmara village and exploded during the shelling.
Officials said Pakistan army also shelled heavily the hamlets along the Line of Control (LoC) in Khari Karmara sector.
"India condemns, in the strongest terms, the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians by Pakistan forces. This year alone, 21 Indians have been killed and 94 injured in over 2711 unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces," the MEA said.
"India also protested Pakistan's continued support to cross border terrorist infiltration into India, including supporting cover fire provided by Pakistani forces," it said in the statement.
Meanwhile, Pakistan also summoned a senior Indian diplomat from the Indian High Commission to register a "strong protest" over the alleged ceasefire violations by the Indian forces.
The Foreign Office said in a statement that due to "unprovoked firing" in the Rakhchikri and Baroh Sectors on Friday two women were injured.
