A week after a BJP leader was shot dead in Kashmir, a saffron party activist has been reportedly kidnapped by unknown persons in Baramulla district.

Mehrajuddin Malla, the vice chairman of municipal committee of Watergam, was allegedly kidnapped en route Sopore town. Officials have launched rescue ops.

The incident comes less than a week after BJP leader Sheikh Waseem Bari, his brother and father were shot dead by militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district. Bari was attacked outside his residence at Muslimabad in Bandipora in north Kashmir. His father, Bashir Ahmed, and brother, Umar Bari, were also injured in the attack. All three were declared brought dead at the hospital.
