With fugitive Vikas Dubey, who is responsible for the murder of eight policemen in Kanpur, being spotted in Faridabad, Gurgaon and Faridabad have been put on high alert on Wednesday. Dubey, along with accomplice Prabhat Mishra, had taken refuge at the residence of Ankur, another accomplice, in Sector 87 of Faridabad and then shifted to a hotel.
The police conducted a raid at the hotel on Tuesday night. While Dubey fled, both Prabhat and Ankur have been nabbed and are being questioned by Haryana STF. According to a senior investigator, a team of Uttar Pradesh Police on the trail of Dubey had alerted Haryana Police about his location in Faridabad.
Vikas Dubey was at a small budget hotel at Badkhal Chowk, posing as Ankur. Before police could nab him, he fled and Mishra was nabbed. STF has recovered CCTV footage, which shows Dubey in a dark black shirt, jeans and mask present in the hotel. Another CCTV grab showed he was standing on the roadside with a bag. The duo during interrogation had reportedly revealed that Dubey plans to be in Gurgaon. Security on the borders was being fortified, combing is on and a special team has been put on the trail of Dubey by Gurgaon Police Commissioner K.K. Rao.
Dubey is believed to be wearing a blue T-shirt and a mask and plans to cross over to Delhi. Gurgaon Police had sounded a high alert, with pictures of Dubey being circulated across the city. Small guesthouses and hotels are on alert as are transport modes such as inter-city buses, autos and cabs for possible sightings of Dubey.
