“We cannot be taking money from them while they are killing our soldiers,” Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said on Monday. Addressing a press conference, Amarinder urged the Narendra Modi government to return donations received in the PM CARES Fund from Chinese companies or any other company having Chinese stakeholders. Quoting names of various Chinese companies that have contributed to the PM Cares Fund, Amarinder asked Prime Minister Modi to come clean on this controversial “help”.

On being asked about the Union government’s stance claiming there was no intrusion into Indian territory, Amarinder said that the facts were in public view and it was high time that the Centre took a tough stand for the country's integrity. “China has been constantly troubling us as it wanted to bridge the gap between Siachen and Aksai Chin to its advantage. It is time that the Centre took a tough stand. Every single Chinese penny should be returned and we should do all it takes to safeguard our territory,” said Amarinder.

Commenting on the increase in pro-Khalistani activities and China's alleged support to such groups, Amarinder said that both Pakistan and China would support anything and anybody that helps them to get Indian territory. “The 'Referendum2020' is nothing but a bluff that will fall flat. Sikhs are an integral part of India and are happy and thriving here and nobody wants Khalistan. We love this country and are eager to lay our lives down for the nation. Disturbing elements like SFJ can pose no threat to us,” said Amarinder.

On being questioned about the opening of Kartarpur border, Amarinder Singh said that it can be done if social distancing is maintained, though the Central government may be apprehensive, owing to the large number of COVID-19 cases in Pakistan's Punjab.

Talking about the COVID-19 situation in the state, Amarinder Singh said that state was managing way better than the neighbouring states and accounted for only 1 per cent of the national cases.
