Guidelines issued for 5th phase of lockdown; restrictions only in containment zones

Even as the fourth phase of the nationwide lockdown is set to end on May 31 (Sunday), the ministry of home affairs has come out guidelines for the fifth phase.

The MHA extended lockdown in containment zones till June 30. All economic activities in outside the containment zones will be begin in a phased manner, the ministry clarified.

According to the new guidelines, places of worship, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls and other hospitality services will be allowed from June 8. Schools, colleges, educational, training, coaching institutions will be opened after consultations with states and union territories, the ministry said.

The night curfew too will be changed with movement of individuals prohibited between 9pm and 5am across country.

The MHA clarified that the decision on restarting international air travel, Metro trains, cinema halls, gyms, political gathering will be taken after assessing situation.

According to the guidelines, states and union territories will identify buffer zones outside containment zones, where new cases are more likely to occur.

In the fifth phase of the lockdown, there will not be any restriction on inter-state, intra-state movement of people and goods. No seperate permission required for such travels, the MHA said.
