Spanish cyclist Yesenia Herrera Febles is heading to Delhi after being stranded in Tripura for two months. A nurse by profession, Febles entered Tripura from Bangladesh via the Akhaura integrated check post on March 9. She was on a cycle tour of South Asia.

After staying in Agartala for ten days, she was supposed to head to Kanchanpura, and as she was about to enter the Tripura-Mizoram boundary, she was sent back to the city to test for COVID-19.

In Agartala, she was kept in a quarantine centre for 14 days and then shifted to another quarantine centre for a fortnight, she was quoted as saying in a Hindustan Times report.

Febles said that government authorities made her stay in quarantine twice despite her not having and flu-like symptoms.

Febles, who is now on a Delhi-bound train, hopes to catch a flight to Madrid on May 30.

She said she faced problems in communicating with government officials as she speaks only Spanish and English.

However, she managed to contact Father Paul Pudussery, in-charge of the Asha centre maintained by Holy Cross and the Missionaries of Charity, who helped her get food and accommodation free of cost during the time she was stranded in the city.
During her stay in Agartala, she got to know three other cyclists - Clifin J Francis, Haseeb Ahsan and Donna Ann Jacob, who had plans to travel to Tokyo for the Olympic Games.
