An application by the name of ‘Ayush Kavach’ was launched in Uttar Pradesh by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday evening. The app is designed to tell users how commonly available kitchen ingredients such as tulsi, clove and cinnamon can be used to enhance the body’s immunity to fight against COVID-19.

Announcing its launch, CM Adityanath said, “The whole world is looking at India with hope. Ayurveda and India’s ancient traditions have numerous facts about building the body’s immunity against this pandemic and many other diseases. This mobile app will allow the prorogation of these remedies in simple language to the common man.”

The chief minister said that the application draws from health remedies provided by seers of yore in ayurveda and yoga.

It also offers users the opportunity to seek advice from experts.

“I congratulate the minister and officials of the AYUSH ministry for developing this application. I hope people will use this app to use naturally available remedies to fight this pandemic,” he added.

Meanwhile, the government has also announced a reopening of business while observing all precautions to restart revenue generation.

Adityanath, in a meeting with ministers and bureaucrats, said on Tuesday that policies need to be reconsidered to restart industrial activities. This is to be done with adequate social distancing and sanitation. A single window mechanism for approvals and labour reforms are to be necessary steps as part of this revival.

The chief minister commended the state’s Jansunwai portal which has started registration of migrants from other states in Uttar Pradesh and of those from UP returning to the state. This movement is to be accompanied by enhanced medical screening facilities and monitoring of quarantine facilities. For those returning from abroad, screening facilities shall be in place at Lucknow, Varanasi and Hindon airports.

Adityanath has also directed adequate equipment of COVID-19 hospitals and enhanced testing capacities. The latter must follow strict bio-medical waste disposal protocol. In addition, the COVID-19 helpline number is to be advertised for consultation for other ailments.

There have been complaints about the facilities available at quarantine centres and the CM has directed that regular reports on the same should be sent by the respective nodal officers.

Among other significant announcements was the need to prepare an action plan for foot-and-mouth disease immunisation of milch cattle, the supply of quality food through community kitchens and the preparation of a timetable for mandi operations to avoid overcrowding. Migrant labourers and workers shall also be linked to milk samitis to make them financially self-dependent. Houses shall be made available under the PM Awas Yojana for those living in city slums.
