The family of four—a 39-year-old man who came back from Amsterdam, Netherlands on March 19, his wife and two daughters, aged nine and seven—have tested positive for COVID 19.
They have been isolated at a designated hospital in Bengaluru.
The man had tested positive on March 21. Two days later, his wife (30) tested positive.
A media bulletin released by the Karnataka State Health Department states that the daughters have also tested positive. They are isolated and treated at a designated hospital in Bengaluru.
A 75-year-old woman, suspected of COVID-19, died in Bengaluru on Wednesday morning. The patient, hailing from Hindupur, had co-morbid conditions. She had also visited Mecca recently. She was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD) on Tuesday, from where she was shifted to Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital.
Karnataka has reported 51 COVID-19 confirmed cases so far, of which 47 are in isolation at designated hospitals. Six of them were transit passengers of Kerala. Of the ten newly reported cases, all except the two children, had a recent history of foreign travel to countries, including Guyana, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Dubai, Athens and London. Four of them are senior citizens.
As many as 840 people enrolled for observation in the state on Wednesday and 278 samples were collected for testing and 175 were reported as negative.
Three people who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier have been discharged. Till date, 1, 28, 000 passengers have been screened in Karnataka.
