Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath met Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday in New Delhi amid the political crisis unfolding in the state.

After emerging from the meeting, the chief minister told the media that he had apprised the current political situation in the state to the Congress president and sought her guidance. “I will follow what she told me,” the CM said.

On a question of discussion on Rajya Sabha candidates, Kamal Nath said all relevant matters were discussed in the meeting.

Kamal Nath had left for New Delhi from Bhopal on Sunday night after meeting MLA Bisahulal Sahu who came back to Bhopal after going missing for six days. Although, earlier he was expected to be back in the state only on March 12, he left for Bhopal on Monday after his meeting with the party chief.

With eight of the 10 MLAs, who were allegedly lodged in a Haryana resort on March 3 by the BJP in a bid to topple the government, back in government fold, the Congress has sort of heaved a sigh of relief, though it continues to be on the alert mode. Two MLAs—Hardeep Singh Dang and Raghuraj Kansana —continue to be 'missing'.

The chief minister's decision to go to Delhi indicated his confidence that things were in control in the state. But he is said to have instructed the state ministers to be in constant touch with the party and supporting MLAs. Each minister has reportedly been given responsibility of 10 MLAs each.

Shera wants to be home minister

Meanwhile in Bhopal, independent MLA Surendra Singh alias Shera made ripples again by saying given choice, he would want to be the state home minister and make the police more people-friendly. He also said Home Minister Bala Bachchan was not competent enough to handle the portfolio. State Cooperatives Minister Govind Singh retorted saying Shera even wanted to be the prime minister.
