An autorickshaw driver in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala got a taste of his own medicine when the state police put out a video of him after he was arrested for assaulting a migrant labourer from West Bengal on Saturday.
Kerala Police had arrested auto driver Suresh from Vizhinjam in Thiruvananthapuram after a video of him beating up Goutam Mondal while demanding to see his Aadhaar card had gone viral on social media.
In the clip, Suresh is seen approaching Mondal in a hostile manner and asking him to show his ID card. Mondal is also seen yelling back in accented Malayalam. Suresh then proceeds to take his ID cards from his auto and show it to the labourer, who also takes out his wallet to show his identification. However, before Mondal could take out his ID, Suresh slaps him across the face. “Show me your Aadhaar card or let's call the police.” The auto driver continues to abuse Mondal and slaps him again while demanding to see his Aadhaar card. He is also seen asking the person taking the video to make sure that it is being captured.
The police, after arresting Suresh, made sure that his request to have the incident on video did not go in vain. Kerala Police, popular on social media platforms for sharing memes and fun posts and videos, put up a video featuring Suresh. They posted the video with the caption, “Beating migrant labourer in public......accused under police custody”.

In the video posted by the cops, Suresh is shown slapping Mondal and asking for his Aadhaar card from the original video. At the point where Suresh asks the person taking the video to make sure he captures everything, the new video by Kerala Police shows the auto driver meekly standing in front of a jail cell at the Vizhinjam Police Station after being arrested while the song “Pambaram” by Street Academics plays in the background.
Social media users were all praise for the Kerala Police after the video was posted.

Suresh was arrested under Sections 294(B) (sings, recites or utters any obscene song, ballad or words in public), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 308 (Attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 506(1) (criminal intimidation).
