Ahead of the Congress's 'Bharat Bachao' rally, party leader Rahul Gandhi said the current government has put the economy in ICU even as the democracy is dead. Rahul's attack against the Narendra Modi government came just hours before the Congress was all set to hold the mega Bharat Bachao (Save India) rally in Delhi on Saturday.

Apart from Rahul, the protest rally will be attended by all top leaders of the party, including interim president Sonia Gandhi and former PM Manmohan Singh at Ramlila grounds on Saturday to highlight the "divisive and disruptive" policies of the BJP government. This will be the first such protest held by the Congress after the new government took charge on May 30.

Top party leaders will also address the rally and highlight the "failures" of the Modi government and its alleged attempt to divide the country and its people. Issues such as the current economic slowdown, passage of citizenship bill and unrest in Kashmir and northeast will be the talking points during the rally.

The party's overseas Congress will join the Bharat Bachao rally through demonstrations around the world. "Our message to save India from divisiveness, arrogance and incompetence will be spread worldwide," the overseas Congress said.

Top Congress leaders including Ahmed Patel, Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot, K.C. Venugopal, Mukul Wasnik and Avinash Pande visited the Ramlila grounds and made an assessment of the preparations for Saturday's 'Bharat Bachao' rally.

Delhi Congress president Subhash Chopra claimed that over 50,000 people from the city will take part in the protest. Delhi Congress chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma said lakhs of party workers and people from other parts of the country will attend the rally.
