Days after widespread outrage over the death of a rape victim from Unnao in Uttar Pradesh after being set on fire by the accused, came another shocker from the neighbouring district. An 18-year-old girl was allegedly raped and set on fire by one of her distant relatives on Saturday in Fatehpur.

The houses of the girl and the accused are next to each other.

A case has been registered and efforts are on to nab the accused. Police said initial investigation had revealed that the two could have been involved in a relationship and a panchayat was held to ask them to stay separately till they are married, reported NDTV.
