Reacting to news of the Hyderabad police encounter, BSP chief Mayawati told Uttar Pradesh police to "take inspiration". "Crimes against women are on the rise in Uttar Pradesh, but the state government is sleeping. Police here, and also in Delhi, should take inspiration from Hyderabad police, but unfortunately here criminals are treated like state guests. There is jungle raj in Uttar Pradesh right now," she said, reported ANI.

In a bizarre turn of events, all four accused in the gang rape and murder of a veterinarian in the outskirts of Hyderabad were killed in a police encounter. The incident comes exactly a week after the 26-year-old veterinary doctor was killed, and Mohammad Areef, accomplices Naveen, Shiva and Chennakeshavulu, were arrested by the Hyderabad police. The encounter took place at Chatanpally, the exact site where the charred body of the victim was found. According to Cyberabad police officials, the four accused were taken to the spot to recreate the crime scene, following which some of the accused tried to flee after attacking the officials with stones. According to the police version, the officials had to retaliate, gunning down all the four.

Many prominent personalities, including the victim’s parents, had thanked the Telangana government for ensuring speedy justice.

Reacting to the news, the father of the Hyderabad veterinarian said that "his daughter's soul must be at peace now". "It has been 10 days to the day my daughter died. I express my gratitude towards the police and government for this. My daughter's soul must be at peace now," he said, reported ANI. He had earlier said he wanted the culprits to be hanged. "The culprits must be punished as soon as possible. They should be hanged in about two months. I am waiting for that day," he said, reported Asian Age.
