After Hyderabad horror, 6-year-old girl raped, strangulated in Rajasthan's Tonk

Even as the nation is seething against the horrific rape and murder of a woman veterinarian in Hyderabad, another similar incident has been reported in Rajasthan. Police have confirmed the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in Rajasthan's Tonk district. The missing girl's body was found in her school uniform, allegedly raped and strangled with her school belt, police said. 

The girl had gone to school on Saturday and did not return till late. Her family members started looking for her after she failed to reach home by 3pm. They found the body in the bushes at an isolated place in Kheldi village of Aligarh town on Sunday morning, police said. They added that liquor, snacks and bloodstains were also found at the spot, half a km from her school. 

According to media reports, the girl was staying with her paternal grandmother. Her parents are in Madhya Pradesh's Sheopur for work.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot took to Twitter to condemn the incident. He assured that the accused would be punished. 

The body has been shifted to the district hospital for postmortem, SHO of Aligarh Police Station, Ram Krishan, said. He said efforts are on to identify and arrest the accused.

"We are investigating the case to trace the accused. We have formed special teams," said Superintendent of Police, Adarsh Sidhu.
