At 6pm on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation, in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s verdict on the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid issue.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Supreme Court had ruled on an issue that was hundreds of years old. “The whole country has accepted the decision, with every class, community and people of every sect accepting it, reflecting the ancient spirit of harmony within India.”

“The Supreme Court has shown strong will behind this decision. Therefore, the judges of the country, the courts and our judicial system deserves our applause,” the PM said.

“Today, with the decision on Ayodhya, this date of November 9 has also given us a lesson to move forward together. Today's message is to for us join and to live together.”

The PM added that “fear, bitterness and negativity have no place in the new India.”

Modi said that the SC decision had brought a new dawn for India. “This controversy may have affected many generations, but after this decision, we have to make a resolution that now a new generation will start building a new India.”

Modi added that the sense of harmony, unity and peace between all Indians is important for the nation’s progress.

“Supreme Court listened to all the sides during the hearings of this case with utmost patience & it is a matter of happiness for the entire country that the decision came with the consent of all,” the PM said.

“Today is November 9, the day the Berlin Wall was brought down. Today, the Kartarpur Corridor was inaugurated. Now, with the Ayodhya verdict, this day gives us the message that we should stay united and move forwards,” he said.
