1. PM Modi to address Indian-Americans in Texas

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the mega "Howdy Modi! Shared Dreams, Bright Future" event at the NRG Stadium in Texas. He will address a record 50,000 Indian-Americans. In a special gesture, US President Donald Trump and other officials will also be present during the event. PM Modi has arrived at Houston, and he will fly to New York, where a packed schedule awaits him. On Tuesday, he is scheduled to meet President Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Soon after his arrival in Houston, #HowdyModi started trending on social media. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who is also a Democratic presidential aspirant, greeted the prime minister on Twitter. "Indian PM Narendra Modi has just arrived in Houston. And we cannot wait to say hello. Are you ready Houston?" she said on the microblogging website.

2. Rajnath Singh to address BJP's 'Jan-Jagran Abhiyan' rally in Jammu

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, other Union ministers and the top central leadership of the BJP will take part in the party's 'Jan-Jagran Abhiyaan' rally on the eve of Maharaja Hari Singh's 125th birthday today. The proposed rally is the part of the BJP's ongoing nationwide campaign on the abrogation of special status of Jammu and Kashmir. The party plans to hold 10 meetings of its senior leaders and Union ministers in the state, including a large gathering in Srinagar. During the rally, the speakers will highlight the contribution of the Maharaja to the state and also focus on the "ill effects" of Articles 370 and 35A on the state economy, culture and development, BJP state vice president and convenor  'Jan Jagran Abhiyan' (public awareness campaign) Thakur Narayan Singh told reporters. The Jan-Jagran Abhiyaan rally will be organised on the eve of the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh," he said. 

3. India prepare to take on South Africa in third T20I

Virat Kohli's familiar exuberance and pep talks drowned the chatter around Rishabh Pant as India prepare to play South Africa in the third T20 International today, seeking a 2-0 series verdict. The comprehensive seven-wicket victory in the second game, which was built on the back of a fine comeback by the bowlers and a Kohli masterclass, is history now and the team is looking for another commanding performance before the Test series gets underway. The opener in Dharamsala was a washout.

4. Dalai Lama to inaugurate 'Lama Park' at Karshni Ashram Raman Reti in Mathura

Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama will inaugurate newly built 'Lama Park' at Karshni Ashram Raman Reti during his two-day stay at the facility beginning today. He will pay obeisance to Yamuna by performing 'aarati' (a Hindu ritual) today evening, office-bearer of the Ashram, Govinda Nand Mahraj, said on Friday. "The spiritual leader will interact with noted saint and head of Karshni Ashram Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Karshni Gurusharnanad Maharaj on Sep 23 " Mahraj said. The Dalai Lama will meet other saints too, he added. 

5. Baloch, Sindhi, Pashto groups gather in Houston to seek help from Modi, Trump

Representatives of Sindhi, Baloch and Pashto groups gathered in Houston to hold a demonstration in front of the NRG stadium today to draw the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump for gaining freedom from Pakistan. Scores of members of the Balochi American, Sindhi American and Pashto American communities landed in Houston on Saturday from various parts of the US to hold the first-of-its-kind demonstration in America, wherein they will collectively urge the leaders of India and the United States to help them get freedom from Pakistan. Members of these groups alleged on Saturday that the Pakistani establishment was carrying out gross violation of human rights against their communities.
