A CBI court in Delhi on Saturday reserved its verdict on the bail plea of jailed Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar. Accordin to reports, the verdict will be pronounced on September 25.

Shivakumar was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money-laundering case on September 3 and has been in custody since then. Additional Solicitor General K.M. Nataraj, who was arguing for the Enforcement Directorate, declared the agency was investigating Shivakumar's "ill-gotten" wealth. Nataraj declared Shivakumar had been "evasive" and had not cooperated with investigators.

Calling for Shivakumar to be kept in custody, Nataraj claimed there were a number of non-agricultural properties of Shivakumar that needed to be investigated. Nataraj also referred to the properties of D.K. Suresh, brother of Shivakumar and a Congress leader, and said these also needed to be investigated. Nataraj alleged there was the possibility of evidence being tampered with.

Arguing for Shivakumar, senior Congress leader and lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi denied the Karnataka politician posed a flight risk. Singhvi declared Shivakumar was ready to present himself before the Enforcement Directorate every day.
