Union minister Babul Supriyo, who was shown black flags and heckled by a section of students at Jadavpur University in Kolkata on Thursday, assured the mother of a student who was seen pulling his hair that no legal action will be initiated against her son.

Taking to Twitter, Supriyo on Saturday assured her that he won't harm her son in any way. “ I just want that he takes lessons from his misdeeds,” Supriyo said, and added that he hasn't yet lodged a police complaint against anyone responsible for the incident ,nor allow anyone else to do so.

He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the woman, who is a cancer patient.

Supriyo had, on Friday, tweeted a photo of the student heckling him and pulling his hair. “This is the guy who led the assault in #JadavpurUniversity .. we will find him out and then see what @MamataOfficial does to him in terms of charging him for assault without ANY PROVOCATION whatsoever from our/my side,” he wrote.

Supriyo had gone to the campus to address a seminar organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP)— the student wing of the RSS. The minister was initially stopped from entering the campus for around one-and-half hours from 2.30 pm by members of Left-leaning organisations—Arts Faculty Students' Union (AFSU) and Students Federation of India (SFI)— who raised the slogan 'Babul Supriyo Go Back', varsity sources said.
