B.M. Kutty, a prominent politician of Malayali origin in Pakistan, passed away on Sunday. He was 89. Born Biyyathul Mohiyudeen Kutty, he migrated to Pakistan from Thiroor in Malappuram in 1949. He has worked with multiple political and social outfits.

He was a member of the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy, left-oriented parties such as Pakistani Awami League, National Democratic Party, Pakistan National Party and cross-border peace initiatives like Pakistan-India Peoples' Forum for Peace and Democracy.

He was a journalist and the author of Sixty Years in Self Exile: No Regrets, which was released by former external affairs minister Natwar Singh.
