A look at the headlines today:

1. First reshuffle of Yogi cabinet in UP

The first reshuffle of the Yogi Adityanath ministry in Uttar Pradesh will take place on Wednesday, a Raj Bhavan official said. The reshuffle, and the possible induction of new members, is likely to fill the slots that have fallen vacant in the last few months, particularly after some ministers got elected to the Lok Sabha. This will be the first cabinet reshuffle after Adityanath took charge in the state in March 2017, heading a 47-member ministry. Three of the 47 ministers—Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Satyadev Pachauri and S.P. Singh Baghel—were elected to the Lok Sabha in May.

2. Union ministers visit Jaitley on life support

Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Prakash Javadekar, visited the hospital on Tuesday to enquire about Arun Jaitley's health. On Monday, BJP veteran L.K. Advani, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, UP Governor Anandiben Patel and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Delhi LG Anil Baijal and party MP Maneka Gandhi among others visited the hospital to know about his wellbeing .According to sources, he is on life support system. A multidisciplinary team of doctors is consistently monitoring his condition. AIIMS has not issued any bulletin on Jaitley's health condition since August 10.

3. BWF World Championships

In the doubles section on Wednesday, Ashwini Ponnappa and Reddy N. Sikki will face off against Du Yue and Li Yin Hui at 3:40pm in the afternoon. India's new doubles sensation Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy had pulled out owing to injuries. In the singles section, Saina Nehwal will face off against Soraya De Visch Eijbergen. At 12:00 noon, P.V. Sindhu will face off against Pai Yu Po. At 7pm, Kidambi Srikanth will battle Misha Zilberman. India's double silver medallist P.V. Sindhu will look to produce another masterclass. Sindhu has been the most consistent performer in the World Championships in the last few years with two back-to-back silver and as many bronze medals but a gold medal has so far eluded her.

4. AAP MLAs to stage stir at Jantar Mantar against 'demolition' of temple

AAP MLAs will hold a protest at Jantar Mantar here on Wednesday against the DDA allegedly demolishing a Guru Ravidas temple in the Tughlakabad area, Delhi Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam said on Tuesday. He added that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers from Haryana and Punjab will also participate in the protest. Gautam said the Centre should take a decision in the matter at the earliest. 

5. Trump offers to mediate on Kashmir, again

US president Donald Trump on Tuesday offered to mediate on Kashmir, after successive phone calls with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Imran Khan. This time, he made a second, public offer. "Kashmir is a very complicated place. You have Hindus and you have the Muslims and I wouldn't say they get along so great," Trump told mediapersons. "I will do the best I can to mediate," he said, NDTV reported. "You have two counties that haven't gotten along well for a long time and frankly, it's a very explosive situation," he added. 

6. CBI issues notice to Chidambaram asking him to appear 'within two hours'

Hours after the Delhi High Court refused former Union finance minister P. Chidambaram any protection from arrest in the INX Media case, the CBI issued a notice to him asking him to appear before the investigation officer "within two hours", after failing to find him at his residence. At around 6.30pm, a team of CBI officers landed at his posh Jor Bagh residence here to locate him, officials said. The CBI team left the premises after confirming that Chidambaram was not present at the address, they said.
