Shah Faesal, the IAS officer-turned politician, was detained at Delhi airport on Wednesday while attempting to go abroad, media reports said. Faesal was sent back to Srinagar and has been detained under provisions of Public Safety Act. According to PTI, he was attempting to travel to Istanbul.
Faesal, who resigned from the IAS in January to start a political party, has been among the most vocal critics of the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir. Unlike Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, who have been in custody since August 5, Faesal had been able to use social media to communicate his views.
In addition to posting about chaos in hospitals following the security clampdown, Faesal has also been severely critical about the Narendra Modi government's actions. On Sunday, he tweeted, there would be “no Eid” in Kashmir as people were in mourning. On Tuesday, Faesal tweeted “abolition of Article 370 had finished the mainstream”.
