Even as the political crisis in Keranataka continues to drag on, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, accusing it of using money and power to bring down the state governments.

“BJP brings down the state governments by using money and threat wherever it can. You saw it in Goa and northeast. Now, they are trying to do it in Karnataka. This is their method. They have money and power. So they use it. That is the reality,” Rahul said in Ahmedabad.

The Congress MP was talking to reporters after appearing in a city court in connection with a criminal defamation suit filed against him. He was granted bail in the case.

Asked how the Congress party would tackle the current situation, Rahul said: “The Congress party gets strengthened by truth. We are fighting for the truth.”

His comments came even as the uncertainty over the future of the Congress-JD(S) government in Karnataka deepened with the rebel MLAs sticking to their decision to quit the assembly.

Sixteen MLAs including 13 from the Congress, have resigned and two Independents have withdrawn support to the 13-month-old coalition government in the southern state.

Talking about the defamation case against him, Rahul said: “The more I am attacked, the more will I fight with love.”

“It is an attempt to threaten, to subdue. But this does not make any difference to me. I will keep fighting. This fight is about the Constitution, for the future of the country. This is a fight against corruption and injustice. It will go on,” he said.
