Slamming West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her decision to not be part of International Day of Yoga celebrations, BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya compared her to Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to an ANI report, the BJP general secretary said there is no difference between Mamata Banerjee and Imran Khan as both of them have boycotted the yoga day celebrations. "Even when the whole world celebrated the Yoga Day with enthusiasm, Mamata Banerjee and Pakistan boycotted it," he was quoted as saying.

Further, Vijayvargiya also took on Congress president Rahul Gandhi for sharing on Twitter a photo of Army's dog squad doing yoga along with their trainers, and called him “mentally unsound”. The tweet had courted controversy with BJP chief Amit Shah accusing him of mocking yoga day and insulting the armed forces. "Congress stands for negativity. Today, their negativity was seen in their clear support to the medieval practice of Triple Talaq. Now, they mock Yoga Day and insult our forces (yet again!) Hoping the spirit of positivity will prevail. It can help overcome toughest challenges," Shah had tweeted.

The International Day of Yoga was celebrated with much grandeur in various part of the country and abroad on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged people to take yoga to all sections of society at an event organised to mark the celebrations in Ranchi. "We should make efforts to take yoga from cities to villages, tribal areas. Yoga is above region, above faith, above everything," he had said.
