Breaking his silence over the exit poll results that came out on Sunday predicting a BJP tsunami across India, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday asked his partyworkers to be cautious and alert in the next 24 hours. "Dear workers of the Congress party, the next 24 hours are important. Be cautious and alert. Not scared. You are fighting for the truth. Don't be disappointed with the propaganda of the fake exit poll. Trust yourself and the Congress party, your hard work will not go waste. Jai Hind. Rahul Gandhi," the party president tweeted in a last-minute effort to lift spirits within the Congress.

Rahul's response comes on par with that of his sister and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who on Monday sought to bolster the morale of party workers by asking them to not be disheartened by "rumours" and exit poll results and urged them to be alert at their respective booths. "Don't be disheartened with rumours and exit polls. These are crafted to undermine your spirits. Because of all this your alertness becomes all the more important. Be on your guard on strong rooms and counting centres. We are sure our and your hard work will bear fruit," Priyanka said in a recorded audio message for Congress workers on Monday.
Most exit polls have predicted a majority for the BJP-led NDA, leaving the UPA far behind.
