Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Friday warned voters of the possibility that BJP chief Amit Shah could be home minister if Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to power.

Taking to Twitter, Kejriwal wrote in Hindi, “Countrymen think when you vote. If Modi returns to power, Amit Shah will become home minister. What would happen to a country when Amit Shah is its home minister; think about this and vote.”
Interestingly, Kejriwal's tweet was based on a tweet from VDPAssociates, a poll tracking agency. VDPAssociates had tweeted on Friday morning, “Amit Shah is positioning himself for role of home minister if Modi returns. Ex CEA Arvind Virmani and RBI governor Bimal Jain can make a good finance minister”.
On Thursday, VDPAssociates had tweeted, “Amit Shah has done incredible amount of hard work in UP since last 4 years. The kind of work done down to polling booth is to be seen to be believed. No wonder they are leaving none of the 80 seats”. VDPAssociates had stated that it would release statewide projections for the Lok Sabha polls after close of polling on May 19.

Interestingly, Friday's tweet is not the first time Kejriwal warned about the possibility of Shah becoming home minister. In April, Kejriwal had brought up the possibility at an election rally in Margoa, before Goa went to polls. Kejriwal had then claimed Shah had not contested the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, but was fighting from Gandhinagar this time.
Shah had been home minister in Gujarat during Modi's tenure as chief minister of the state. He resigned in 2010 after the CBI named him as an accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh kidnapping and murder case. Shah was arrested and jailed that year but got bail in three months. Shah was discharged from the case in 2014.
