The Income Tax authorities conducted a raid at DMK MP Kanimozhi's house in Thoothukudi on Tuesday evening amid massive cash hauls in Tamil Nadu ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Kanimozhi, sister of party president M.K. Stalin, is the candidate from Thoothukudi.
The raids came hours after the Election Commission issued an order cancelling the polling at Vellore constituency following the seizure of huge amount of cash from the DMK candidate's office. This is the first time in the history of Lok Sabha elections that the polling is rescinded over cash-for-vote allegations.
