Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan created further controversy on Monday when he made objectionable comments to media persons at Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh, after being asked about his controversial statement against actor Jaya Prada on Sunday.

Azam said to reporters “Main aapke waalid ke maut par aaya hun” (I have come for your father’s death), when they tried to question him on his controversial statement. He then walked away from the media persons without answering any queries.

Khan was in Vidisha to participate in the last rites of Samajwadi party leader and former Rajya Sabha member Munawwar Salim.

Earlier on Sunday, Azam Khan, national general secretary of Samajwadi Party, landed in a soup on Sunday after making objectionable comments against Jaya Prada, who was earlier with Samajwadi Party and recently joined the BJP. She is contesting from Rampur constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

Khan’s ‘sexist’ statement that did not name Jaya Prada, but was clearly intended at her, came at a public meeting in Shahabad of Rampur. On Monday, a FIR was lodged against him for the comments and the National Commission for Women has also sought an explanation from the leader.

Khan, however, claimed he made the remarks in the context of a "man". Asserting that he did not name anyone, he told ANI that he would withdraw his candidature if proven guilty.

BJP leaders including former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan have condemned Azam Khan’s string of controversial statements. BJP spokesperson Rajnish Agrawal said Khan has crossed all limits of civility.
