A video of BJP state chief B.S. Yeddyurappa has emerged where he claims that the party can take power in Karnataka "within 24 hours" if it wins 22 seats in the state in the coming national election in April.

"If the people of Karnataka give us 22 seats in the coming Lok Sabha elections, we will form the government in Karnataka within 24 hours," Yeddyurappa can be heard saying in the video.

He observed that at least 20 Congress MLAs have not accepted H.D. Kumaraswamy as their chief minister.

The Janata Dal Secular and the Congress, the ruling alliance, hold just 11 parliamentary seats in Karnataka in total. While the BJP has a total of 16 seats.

Last month, the former chief minister had made headlines with his comments on the IAF strike targeting terror camps in Pakistan's Balakot. He had said that the strike would help the BJP gain 22 seats in Karnataka. He later said that he did not mean to gain political mileage out of the air strike and that his statement had been taken out of context.
