As the Lok Sabha election announcement date nears, the BJP is going all out with programmes to reach out to voters. A series of events chalked out by party leaders, starting with PM Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah, will engage with the cadre and the general public to spread the BJP's message for the upcoming polls. There is a strong buzz that the Election Commission may announce the schedule on March 5.

On February 28, Modi will address the party's booth workers across the country. He will address one crore booth workers who have been tasked to manage over two lakh booths across the country. The workers will gather at 14,000 locations to collectively listen to Modi's “morale booster” speech under the mera booth sabse majboot event.

On February 26, Amit Shah will travel to villages near Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh to kickstart the Kamal Jyoti programme. As a part of this event, Shah will engage with village residents who received electricity in their homes for the first time. He will ride a boat to reach the villages, where he will light earthen lamps (diya) to mark the reach of Modi government’s schemes.

“On the same day, all the BJP ministers, MPs, MLAs, other elected representatives and party office bearers will spread across in their respective areas to light similar lamps in the houses, and even hold community functions for the 22 crore beneficiaries of NDA's government's welfare schemes like Swachh Bharat, Ujjwala, free LPG and Jan Dhan,” BJP general secretary Bhupendra Yadav said. The effort will be to reach as many far off places as possible.

Shah had already launched a programme to place party flags and stickers in the houses of over 10 crore registered party members. He kickstarted the programme by placing a similar flag and sticker outside his home in Ahmedabad.

On March 2, the BJP will launch bike rallies across the country to spread the message of the party's reach and popularity.

Yadav said the party, which launched a feedback gathering programme for its manifesto, has collected over 20 lakh suggestions. Under the event Bharat ke Mann ki Baat, Modi ke Saath—launched on February 3—rallies and programmes were held at 48 places for target audiences. There are 286 raths out on the roads, carrying suggestion boxes for the manifesto. Each rath travels over 100 kilometers a day. By the end of the campaign, these would have traversed all corners of the country, sources said.
