Amar Sathwik Thogiti is only 13 but is a guru for civil service candidates. Amar conducts his classes for aspirants preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams through his YouTube channel.

'Learn with Amar,' the channel launched by the youngster in March 2016, has over two lakh subscribers now. The 30 videos he has uploaded so far have attracted a viewership of over 1.25 crore. In his videos, Amar shares tricks to study various topics related to Geography. These tricks include short-cuts to remember names of countries, rivers and their positions on the map.

Amar's brother Ang Vignesh also shares his own videos on the channel.

The tricks were taught to the brothers by their father Govardhan Achari Thogiti, a government school teacher. Govardhan handles training classes for other teachers and passed on to his sons the same tricks he teaches at the training sessions.

One day, Amar conducted a class mimicking his father, which was shot on video by his mother and uploaded on YouTube. After the video became popular, Amar and his brother decided to launch a YouTube channel.

Amar conducts preparations to shoot the video during weekends. Along with appreciation, Amar has had to face criticism too. As one of the subjects he is dealing with is geography, disputed areas may have to be shown on the channel sometimes. This has given rise to objections.

Meanwhile, along with geography, Amar and brother are planning to create videos on economics and political science.

Ask him about his ambition and Amar's reply would be no surprise: "Become a civil service officer and fight corruption plaguing the country."
