Congress uses 'pliable' yoga pose to troll Modi on Rafale deal

For most of 2018, targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi over alleged irregularities in the deal for 36 Rafale fighters has been the overarching theme in public discourse for the Congress. While the potshots taken at Modi have usually come in the form of speeches, documents and even audio clips, on Friday, the Congress got a bit more innovative on Twitter, with a little, inadvertent, help from the prime minister himself.

On Friday, the Congress photoshopped an image of Modi stretching himself when doing yoga to show his limbs as resting on the alphabet 'A', perhaps in a subtle reference to industrialist Anil Ambani, who the party alleges benefited from the Rafale deal. In its tweet, the Congress provided the dictionary meaning of the word 'pliable'. The Congress tweeted, “This looks very difficult to do, but when you’re #Pliable it’s quite easy. Ask Modiji.”

During a debate in Parliament on the Rafale deal, Gandhi had asked Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan whether he could refer to Ambani as 'AA' after she said using the industrialist's name was against the rules.

The image of Modi doing yoga appears to have been taken from a widely publicised video the prime minister had uploaded in June as part of a viral fitness challenge. Gandhi had then poked fun at Modi's video, saying, “Did you see the PM's fitness video? It is ridiculous... I mean... It is bizarre... This is bankruptcy.”
