Subodh Kumar was attacked by the villagers who hit him with rocks and beat him with sticks. His car was chased to the field where he was attacked by Kalua and shot by Nutt. The inspector's body was found in an SUV in the middle of a field.
Another village youth, too, was killed in the mob violence.
