Two naval officers were killed in a tragic accident at the Naval Base in Kochi on Thursday.
The officers, identified as Naveen and Ajeet, were killed when one of the hangar doors of the Indian Naval Air Squadron 322 collapsed and fell on the two sailors. The hangar door dislodged from its supporting rails above and fell on the sailors. According to a statement by the PIB, the sailors were passing by when the door fell on them.
Though both of them were rushed to the naval hospital INS Sanjivani, the doctors could not resuscitate them.
Naveen hails from Haryana and is survived by his wife and a two-year-old daughter, while Ajeet is survived by his wife and a five-year-old son.
According to the PIB statement, a board of inquiry has been ordered into the cause of accident.
