Telangana polls: TRS builds massive lead in early counting

Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief and caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was leading in his constituency of Gajwel an hour after counting started on Tuesday. By 9.15am, the TRS was ahead in 68 seats while the Congress was leading in 23 seats; the Telangana assembly has 119 seats.

Other prominent leaders who are ahead in their constituencies are Chandrasekhar Rao's nephew Harish Rao, who is ahead in Siddipet. Harish is contesting against Bhavani Reddy of the Telangana Jana Samithi and Narottam Reddy of the BJP.

Revanth Reddy, the working president of the Congress, is ahead in Kodangal. Patnam Narender Reddy of the TRS and N. Namaji of the BJP are also fighting in Kodangal against Revanth, who was touted as a possible chief ministerial candidate for the Congress.

Akbaruddin Owaisi of the AIMIM, brother of MP Asaduddin Owaisi, is leading in Chandrayangutta in the Old City area of Hyderabad.
