Harikumar was accused of pushing 32-year-old Sanalkumar in front of a moving car following a minor scuffle on November 5.
The case, which was being investigated by Crime Branch Superintendent of Police K.M. Antony, was transferred to IG Sreejith after Sanal's family sought a probe by an IPS officer.
