In a bizarre incident, the younger son of Ramesh Yadav, chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, was found murdered at his home in a high-security zone of Lucknow on Sunday and the needle of suspicion is moving to his own mother.
Abhijeet Yadav (23), alias Vivek, was found dead in his bed at his Darul Shafa residence on Sunday morning. The 'high-profile' murder shocked Lucknow as Darul Shafa is a high-security zone where many MLAs and MLCs reside.
According to Assistant Superintendent of Police-East, Survesh Mishra, as per circumstantial evidence, the needle of suspicion is moving towards Abhijeet's mother, Meera Yadav. Mishra said Abhijeet had a habit of heavy drinking and this had greatly exasperated his mother. Police said, on Saturday night, Abhijeet had returned home excessively drunk and an altercation took place between mother and son.
Meanwhile, Abhijeet's elder brother, Abhishek, had lodged a complaint in Hazratganj police station against some unidentified persons for killing Abhijeet.
During interrogation, according to police, the family of Ramesh Yadav kept changing its statement frequently, which made the police suspect Meera. At the time of the incident, Meera and Abhishek were at home and the house was locked from inside. The family of Ramesh Yadav also showed undue haste in attempting to perform Abhijeet's last rites. However, when the police got information about the incident, it stopped the family and took Abhijeet's body for postmortem.
According to Additional Director General of Police, law and order, Anand Kumar, the postmortem revealed that Abhijeet had an injury on his head and had been strangled.
The family of Ramesh Yadav originally hailed from the western Uttar Pradesh district of Etah. Meera is the second wife of Ramesh Yadav, who had been staying in Darul Shafa with two sons, Abhishek and Abhijeet. Meera had been working with the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department and had quit her job a few weeks back.
